Solgar Hyaluronic Acid 120mg overview

As the human body ages, levels of HA dramatically decline. This may account for the loss of hydration that contributes to many conditions of ageing that affect skin and joints. Research has confirmed benefits of both topical and oral use of hyaluronic acid for maintenance of the skin’s layers and structure. HA is one of the components that forms the skin’s Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) and significantly enhances the elasticity of skin tissue. Loss of elasticity of the skin is a major contributing factor to the formation of wrinkles

Further information about Solgar Hyaluronic Acid 120mg

As well as Hyaluronic acid, each tablet provides chondroitin sulphate, vitamin C and collagen (BioCell Collagen II). Hyaluronic acid and collagen are naturally found in skin tissue and are crucial for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration. They also play a central role in the maintenance of healthy connective tissue, which is important for joint health and mobility. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) belongs to a class of polysaccharide compounds known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and is found in almost very cell within the body. HA is a hydrophilic (water-loving) molecule capable of holding up to a thousand times its own weight in water. It is often referred to as nature’s moisturiser. HA is especially abundant in the components of the joints (such as cartilage and synovial fluid), as well as in the skin and eyes. Over fifty percent of the body’s stores of HA is found in the skin. HA hydrates and nourishes collagen that is vital for joint stability and skin firmness.

Do you know the difference between a grape and a raisin? The answer is water. Water enables the grape to remain smooth and plump, while the lack of hydration causes the raisin to appear wrinkled and flat. Our skin is the same, for healthy, plump, youthful skin, water is an absolute must. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance found within almost the entire cell of the human body, most abundantly in the joints and the skin. In the joints, HA is found in the synovial fluid, which provides lubrication and acts as a shock absorber. In the skin, HA may help to retain optimal levels of water in the dermis of the skin.

A study reported in the international Journal of Dermatology, showed that as subjects aged, levels of HA in the skin decreased. In fact, in those aged 60 and above, there were minimal traces of HA in their skin. It is thought that this age-related loss of HA may be a contributing factor to wrinkling in aging. Studies also suggest a role for Hyaluronic acid in joint health and it may even offer pain relief to arthritis sufferers.

Hyaluronic acid can be taken alone or combined with other natural supplements, such as vitamin C, collagen and chondroitin sulphate to enhance its benefits.

The ‘goo’ molecule in the joints. Hyaluronic Acid is widely referred to as a ‘perfect partner’ for Glucosamine; a substance that occurs naturally in the body and plays a role in the smooth working of the joints helping to maintain connective tissues.
