Barberry

All parts of the plant contain toxic alkaloids which, in larger doses, can seriously damage your health.  they must not be used without medical supervision.

Barberry is mildly laxative and has diuretic effect in small doses, increasing the production and excretion of gall and relieving cramplike spasms in some muscles.

It is used to treat diseases of the gallbladder, kidney stones and inflammation of the urinary tract.  The bark has a beneficial effect on the circulatory system
